My poor boat! We were hit head on by a fishing boat whilst we were on anchor ⚓. It was a frightening wake up CRASH at 04:30 had us scrambling for clothes and up on deck to assess damage. Fortunately nothing major to the rigging, anchoring or hull, phew. Our entire bowsprit has been pushed backwards about 10mm and forward of the headsail is destroyed, the stainless is bent, navigation lights gone and quite a bit of the teak rails have cracked with the impact. All positive though as after some rigging adjustments and tightening we can still sail and amazingly there isn't even a scratch on the paint - GO TIKI! I love exploring anchorages, seeing them with fresh eyes and being amazed at how beautiful some are. This is gorgeous and secluded Datai Bay surrounded by rainforested mountains. We arrived very early to be greeted by an Eagle soaring over Tiki and to find only one other boat here. Another busy-ish day spent anchored in front of the posh resorts with their gorgeous ocean view villas. Lucky us! We also get that stunning view from the cockpit with the sun still burning hot at 18:30 and our giant Union Jack is a perfect screen for another hour or so... Recent jobs regassing the freezer and Captain Crackers installing a new thermostat to the fridge has rewarded us with the Best. Thing. Ever.
